Cover ImageCover picture:Three-dimensional electron microscopic reconstruction of a lagging chromosome that remained at the spindle equator in an anaphase PtK1 cell. The merotelically oriented kinetochore is color encoded in yellow, kinetochore microtubules are green, and the chromatin proximal to the kinetochore is red. The single kinetochore is highly stretched with five kinetochore microtubules extending toward one pole and 11 kinetochore microtubules extending toward the opposite pole. The Stereocon reconstruction was generated by Alexey Khodjakov from 0.25-mum serial sections. See related article in this issue by Cimini et al., (pp. 517-527).
