Our simple publication fees and choices ensure that Rockefeller University Press is able to offer a home to all manuscripts that meet the criteria of novelty, significance, and scientific rigor.

Authors who publish in Journal of Cell Biology (JCB), Journal of Experimental Medicine (JEM), and Journal of General Physiology (JGP) may select:

Inability to pay the $2,000 fee will not affect the publication of your manuscript. If you are experiencing financial hardship or complications with requirements by your funder, please contact us for more information at RUPFinance@rockefeller.edu or (212) 327-7938.

Corresponding authors at UK-based institutions: Please check with your librarian to see if your fees are covered under RUP's Jisc agreement. Articles with primary corresponding authors at participating institutions will be published as Immediate Open Access with no fees to the authors.

Primary corresponding authors at Max Planck Institutes: Your fees are covered under RUP's "read-and-publish" transformative agreement with Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL). Research articles with primary corresponding authors at participating institutions will be published as Immediate Open Access with no fees to the authors.

If your research was funded by the Wellcome Trust and the corresponding author(s) are not based at an institution participating in RUP's Jisc agreement: Authors who publish in RUP journals always retain copyright ownership (and ability to transfer copyright when required) with the right to post their accepted manuscript under a CC-BY license, as required by their funder. The final published article will include the statement:

"This research was funded in whole or in part by the Wellcome Trust. For the purpose of Open Access, the author has applied a CC-BY public copyright license to any Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) version arising from this submission."

Upon request, RUP will waive the $2,000 fee on behalf of authors recognizing that Wellcome does not currently permit authors to use their funds to publish in JCB, JEM, and JGP.
