Publication Fees and Access Options

We offer authors Gold and Green options to comply with funders’ open access policies, extending a home to all manuscripts that meet the criteria of novelty, significance, and scientific rigor.

  GOLD OPEN ACCESS GREEN OPEN ACCESS
Access Your published article is immediately publicly available to all. Your published article is accessible to readers with a subscription. It is publicly available to all 12 months after publication.
Funder compliance RUP deposits your published article to PubMed Central, where it will be immediately publicly available. You may self-deposit your accepted manuscript to a funder repository (e.g., PubMed Central) or an institutional repository in accordance with your funder/institutional policy. Please check with your funder/institution for guidance.

RUP deposits published articles that acknowledge NIH funding to PubMed Central for release 12 months after publication.
Article Processing Charge (APC) $6000. None.
Page Charges None. $2000 flat-fee page charge.
Fee Exceptions APCs are automatically waived for corresponding authors from institutions with an RUP Read-and-Publish agreement and from low- or middle-income countries. Inability to pay will not affect the publication of your manuscript.
