Cover picture: Cross-section of spinal cord from a mouse in which an Escherichia coli {Beta}-galactosidase (lacZ) gene has been inserted into the agrin locus to intercept (trap) transcripts encoding the basal lamina-associated LNagrin isoform. LacZ staining (pink in this pseudocolored reproduction) reveals that this isoform is selectively expressed by ventral motoneurons as well as cells of the microvasculature.
