JCB65: Cell Death
In the fifth collection celebrating our 65th anniversary, we revisit fundamental studies identifying different forms of cell death, including NETosis and anoikis. The collection encompasses many studies shedding light on the determinants of apoptosis and cell survival, including in neurons. Revisit early work coupling mitochondrial dynamics and apoptosis, such as studies showing that the pro-apoptotic factor Bax translocates to mitochondria at fission sites, stimulating further research into the role of mitochondrial fission during apoptosis, as well as work identifying the hierarchical activation of caspases downstream of cytochrome c release from mitochondria. If we missed your favorite JCB study, tweet to @JCellBiol using the hashtag #JCB65, or email us at [email protected]. Find more 65th anniversary collections or browse our From the Archive series.
