Adenovirus stimulates two distinct signaling pathways that promote minus-end–directed MT transport and enhance nuclear targeting, one activating protein kinase A and the other p38/MAP kinase (Suomalainen et al., 2001). It is tempting to speculate that the MAP kinase incorporated into virions could do a similar job for incoming HIV (Jacque et al., 1998).
