Temporary full-time Scientific Editor
Journal of Experimental Medicine

Journal of Experimental Medicine (JEM) is a multidisciplinary journal published by not-for-profit academic publisher Rockefeller University Press (RUP) that is dedicated to publishing high-quality research in experimental medicine and disease pathogenesis.

This is a full-time position in a hybrid-remote setting. The position is temporary, commencing July 2024 and ending January 2025. Fully remote considered for candidates with editorial experience.

Scope of the role

The successful candidate will report to the JEM Executive Editor and work closely with a team of Scientific Editors and experts on JEM academic and associate editorial boards to

  • assess submitted manuscripts for scope, originality, rigor, context, and implications and provide editorial recommendations;
  • oversee all aspects of the editorial process, including management of peer review for assigned manuscripts;
  • commission and recruit front-matter content;
  • liaise with RUP marketing and production teams to ensure timely publication and active promotion of JEM articles;
  • promote JEM and RUP policies and initiatives.

Requirements


  • PhD with research experience in areas within JEM's scope. Editorial experience preferred.
  • Critical thinking skills and superb attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, networking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work successfully, both independently and in a team.
  • Strong interest in scientific publishing and publication ethics.
