Actin-rich membrane cups around FcγR-bound particles in macrophages derived from mice genetically deficient for Syk tyrosine kinase. Polymerized actin structures (green) form around FcγR-bound particles and are indistinguishable from those formed in wild-type cells. However, Syk-deficient cells are unable to affect closure of these actin cups. Syk-deficient macrophages are defective in other FcγR-induced signaling events as well.
