The cellular microtubule and actin cytoskeletons and their associated molecular motors coordinate the spatio-temporal regulation and dynamics of cellular organelles and macromolecules. Examining the cytoskeleton is crucial to understand cellular processes and mechanisms such as cell shape changes, division, migration, motility, trafficking, ciliogenesis, mechanotransduction, and development.
