Centrosomes and Cilia 2018
Centrosomes are major microtubule organizing centers, and cilia are microtubule-based organelles functioning in cell motility and sensory signaling. Recently, important progress has been made to understand the organization and function of these structures of the microtubule cytoskeleton as well as their involvement in cancer, developmental and degenerative disorders, and their connections to cell cycle regulation and differentiation. JCB Editorial Board member Mónica Bettencourt Dias and Senior Scientific Editor Melina Casadio assembled a collection of recent JCB papers advancing our knowledge about cilium and centrosome function in health and disease using diverse experimental systems and model organisms. The selection includes our most highly read articles about the regulation of centriole and centrosome organization and cycle, cilium structure, function, signaling and trafficking, ciliogenesis, and the roles of cilia and centrosomes in cancer and developmental disorders. We hope you enjoy this collection and look forward to your feedback on Facebook and Twitter.
