Call for Papers
EpIC Issue: Emerging Research on Ion Channels in Health and Disease

You are invited to submit papers on the topic of the inaugural in-person Electrophysiology and Ion Channel (EpIC) meeting, “Emerging Research on Ion Channels in Health and Disease” to be published throughout the year and highlighted in a special issue. We seek submissions exemplifying work at the cutting-edge of ion channel research.
The review process will be overseen by JGP Associate Editors Chris Lingle and Jeanne Nerbonne both of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. They will be assisted by Guest Editors and subject experts Jelena Baranovic of the University of Edinburgh, Osama Harraz of The University of Vermont, Conor McClenaghan of Rutgers University, and Lejla Zubcevic of The University of Kansas Medical Center.
EpIC is an initiative that highlights the work of early career scientists in the ion channel field, and we therefore especially encourage submissions from pre-tenure faculty and postdocs as corresponding authors, but submissions from all career stages are welcome. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, ion channel structure and biophysical properties, regulatory mechanisms, pharmacology, physiological functions, disease relevance, and drug discovery.
The editors specifically invite submissions of Research Articles, Communications, Hypotheses, or Methods and Approaches. Critical review papers which synthesize exciting new directions or appraise outstanding areas of interest are also welcome. The deadline for submission for inclusion in the special issue is March 15, 2026.
Authors can publish in JGP free of charge or pay a reduced fee to make their articles immediately Open Access —learn more about our No Fee-Low Fee policy.

Please note that the special issue will be published online as papers are accepted, minimizing the time from acceptance to publication. Please indicate that this is for the EpIC Issue: Emerging Research on Ion Channels in Health and Disease special issue during submission.
