This collection highlights recent publications in JEM on host-microbe interactions. It includes a study on the colitogenicity and perturbations of gut microbiota in immunotherapy-related colitis, several studies on the role of commensal microbes, including bacteria, protozoa and fungi, as well as virus and bacterial pathobionts in shaping host immunity and fitness, studies on how host immune responses modulate microbiota community, a study on the influence of dietary fiber on gut microbiota and immune responses, and a review on MAIT cells in barrier tissues.
