In the second sentence of the Abstract, the second instance of the word “activated” should have read “inactivated.” The corrected sentence appears below:

Although several genes influencing HSC self-renewal have been identified, to date no gene has been described that, when activated, enhances HSC self-renewal and, when inactivated, promotes HSC differentiation.
