Call for Papers

Chloride Channels and Transporters

nullYou are invited to submit papers on the topic of the Society of General Physiologists’ 78th Annual Symposium: “Tracing the Path of Chloride: from Ion Channels and Transporters to Physiology & Therapeutics” to be published throughout the year and highlighted in a special issue.

Guest editors are Anne Carlson of the University of Pittsburgh and Zhaozhu Qiu of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. They are assisted in handling the submitted manuscript reviews by JGP Associate Editor Joe Mindell of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke at NIH.

JGP welcomes submissions that focus on increasing our understanding of diverse membrane protein families involved in transporting anions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, chloride channel and transporter structures and biophysical properties, regulatory mechanisms, pharmacology, physiological functions, disease relevance, and drug discovery.

Submissions of Research Articles, Communications, Hypotheses, or  Methods and Approaches are specifically invited. The deadline for submission for inclusion in the special issue is December 15, 2025. Authors can publish in JGP free of charge or pay a reduced fee to make their articles immediately Open Access—learn more about our No Fee-Low Fee policy.

Ready to prepare your paper for submission? Visit our instructions for the authors.

Please note that the special issue will be published online as papers are accepted, minimizing the time from acceptance to publication.  Please indicate that this is for the Chloride Channels and Transporters special issue during submission.
