Lipid and Membrane Biology 2026
This collection highlights recent advances in lipid biology. Selected articles explore mechanisms underlying lipid transport, endosome biogenesis, and the maintenance of lipid homeostasis at ER–plasma membrane contact sites. Papers in this collection focus on the balance of lipophagy and fatty acid transfer processes, on the roles of lipids in stress, and on lipid synthesis. The collection highlights work on a novel acyl-CoA binding protein, and lipid organization at the soma–germline boundary in the Drosophila embryo. Finally, the collection includes a review on detecting and modulating membrane lipids and a new toolset for phospholipid monitoring.
Together, these Research, Tool, and Review articles span aspects of structural biology, genetics, synthetic biology, and biophysics that we hope will engage a variety of readers interested in lipid biology.
