The cancer cell is centrally located and labeled. It releases tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) which binds to TNF receptor 1 (TNFR1) on the cancer cell surface. This interaction leads to the production of protumor inflammatory mediators such as CXCL1, CXCL2, CCL2, and PGE2. These mediators attract immunosuppressive myeloid infiltrates, including neutrophils and macrophages, which are depicted on the right side of the diagram.
