Quinoxalinediones CNQX, DNQX, and NBQX (each at 100 µM) were used in two protocols: glutamate (1 mM) was pre-applied, and during glutamate application the quinoxalinedione was co-applied (e.g., A, left); or quinoxalinedione was pre-applied, and then glutamate was co-applied (e.g., A, right). Note how the quinoxalinedione-mediated decreases in glutamate-gated current amplitude (A–F) or quinoxalinedione-mediated increases in glutamate-gated current amplitude (C) are similar in either protocol.
