NEKL-4 functions in the ciliated neurons to reduce mitochondrial oxidative stress and destabilize ciliary B-tubules through the action of ciliary kinesins such as KLP-13. This ciliary function opposes the B-tubule stabilizing action of CCPP-1 through a pathway distinct from glutamylation regulation.
