A model for traction force regulation during neuron migration. Migratory neurons possess three potential CCs where activated myosin-II generates the traction force. In the absence of guidance cues, contraction activities at the three CCs are weak and fluctuate independently, leading to the stationary state or apparently random fluctuation of soma location. Gradients of guidance cues from the environment bias the relative activities of the three CCs, resulting in preferential net traction toward a specific direction.
