Neutrophils are recruited to lungs of both C57BL/6 and C3HeB/FeJ mice, while macrophage and CD4 ⁺ T cell accumulation is delayed in TB-susceptible C3HeB/FeJ mice. (a–c) C57BL/6 and C3HeB/FeJ mice were aerosol infected with (a) HN878, (b) 6C4, or (c) 4I2 M. tuberculosis strains, and numbers of neutrophils (Ly6G^hiCD11b^hiCD45⁺), total and MHC-II⁺ MDMs (HN878: Siglec F⁻ Ly6G⁻ CD11b⁺CD64⁺MerTK⁺CD45⁺; 6C4/4I2: Siglec F⁻ Ly6G⁻ CD11b⁺F4/80⁺CD45⁺), and CD44⁺CD62L⁻ CD4⁺ T cells (CD3ε⁺CD45⁺) in lung tissue were determined by flow cytometry.
