Representative raw tension traces from 0.5% length increases of a single mouse MHC IIX skeletal muscle fiber. Following the rapid stretch under active conditions, there is an immediate increase in tension (phase 1), an initial decay (phase 2), a secondary, delayed increase (phase 3), and a secondary longer decay (phase 4). FSA is the largest magnitude of phase 3, and t3 is the time from the beginning of lengthening to the phase 3 peak. F0 has been subtracted from the tension trace.
