Model predictions for the effect of mutations at V205 on voltage sensor transmembrane domain backbone structure. Mutations were made in the KCNQ1 homology models, and then subjected to side chain repacking and gradient energy minimization, including the WT channel. Resulting closed- (top row) and open-state (bottom row) mutant structures were then overlain on the WT channel backbone structure. WT channel is blue, and mutant channels are orange.
