The 1954 announcement of a new journal for “the presentation of morphological, biochemical and biophysical studies of the structures of cells and their components and of the function of these compontents.” Originally called The Journal of Biophysical and Biochemical Cytology when it began publication in January of 1955, it became known as The Journal of Cell Biology in 1962.
