Early log-phase bgs4⁺-repressed cell cultures were grown in MM + 1.2 M sorbitol for 0, 6, 8, and 10 h in the presence of thiamine (bgs4⁺-repressed conditions). [¹⁴C]glucose was added 4 h before harvesting.

Percentage of incorporation of [¹⁴C]glucose = cpm incorporated per fraction × 100/total cpm incorporated. Values are the means and SDs calculated from three independent experiments.

Values are percentages of the corresponding polysaccharide in the cell wall.
