SD provides the deviating from the square lattice positions, following Gaussian distribution with SD. (1) CRUs placed exactly at the nodes of a square lattice of 1.44 µm size. (2) CRUs slightly deviating from the square lattice positions, following Gaussian distribution with SD = 0.25 µm. (3) CRUs moderately deviating from square lattice positions, following Gaussian distribution with SD = 0.5 µm. (4) CRUs strongly deviating from the square lattice positions, following Gaussian distribution with SD = 0.75 µm. (5) Uniformly random CRU positions excluding overlap. CL was measured for the time interval from 5 to 16.5 s (when simulations ended). All model simulations began with identical initial conditions and the initial 5 s period was omitted from the analysis to allow the system to reach a balance (see our original intervalograms in Fig. S3).
