All mice for blood and bone marrow analysis range from 8 to 12 wks old. Blood parameters from blood samples obtained from heart punctures were measured using an Abbot CELL-DYN 4000 system. 100-count leukocyte differentials were examined on blood smears from 18–24 mice in each genotype. Bone marrow analysis was based on 1,000-count manual leukocyte differentials performed on bone marrow–nucleated cells recovered from femurs of age-matched mice from each genotype. Mean values ± SD obtained from the indicated number of mice (n) are given.
