Total and free (non-glycosidically bound) Neu5Gc in commercial baby foods was determined by DMB-HPLC as described in Materials and methods. Data represent average values from two independent experiments. Previous studies have shown that plants are devoid of sialic acids (Zeleny et al., 2006).
