Phosphoinositide levels were quantified before (Uninfected) and after infection of HeLa cells with either wild-type or sigD-deficient (ΔsigD) Salmonella. Lipids were extracted and analyzed by HPLC as detailed in Materials and methods. The amount of the phosphoinositides is given as percent of PtdIns in the same sample. PtdInsP refers to the sum of both PtdIns(4)P and PtdIns(5)P, which are not resolved by the chromatographic system used. Data are means ± SEM of three separate experiments.
