RUP Author Guide:
How to Engage Readers with a Well-structured Abstract
Distilling your paper down to a couple hundred words isn’t an easy task, but writing an effective abstract may be your best chance at engaging readers and having your work read and cited. An abstract should show the highlights of the paper and provide the paper’s main results and conclusions in a way that’s accessible to readers who are outside of your field. In this Author Guide, we provide best practices and a checklist for writing an abstract. We also discuss what to leave out.
