Rockefeller University Press (RUP) seeks a talented individual to  contribute equally to two of the three  hybrid transformative journals published by RUP through commissioning of reviews, representation of the journals at scientific meetings, and analysis of the content published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine (JEM), Journal of General Physiology (JGP),  and related journals

For JEM, Scientific Editor

  • Conceptualizes and plans strategy to commission Reviews and Perspectives for JEM, under supervision of Executive Editor
  • Commissions and manages peer review of Reviews and Perspectives, in concert with JEM Scientific and Academic Editors
  • Stays current with new trends and developments in subject areas within the scope of JEM
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with researchers in their respective fields
  • Represents JEM at national and international scientific conferences
  • Promotes journal policies and works closely with colleagues across RUP on press-wide initiatives

 

For JGP, Scientific Editor

  • Commissions, manages, and edits Reviews and Commentary
  • Collaborates with JGP Editor-in-Chief and JGP editors to recruit high quality manuscript submissions
  • Represents JGP at national and international scientific conferences
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with researchers in their respective fields
  • Works collaboratively with Editor-in-Chief to contribute to the development and implementation of RUP editorial policies and practice

 

We are looking for

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical science or related field; educational emphasis in the subject areas covered by JEM and JGP is preferred.
  • Editorial experience, especially in commissioning and editing review content is highly sought.
  • Ability to travel to conferences and visit research institutions
  • Ability to work successfully both independently and in a diverse team
  • The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills, superb attention to detail, and analytical skills as well as a strong interest in scientific publishing and publication ethics.
