The oxygen in hemoglobin is liberated by K3Fe(CN)6 and not by KCN, that in hemocyanin by KCN and not by K3Fe(CN)6, that in hemerythrin by both, and that in echinochrome by K3Fe(CN)6 and not by KCN. The bearing of these results on the nature of the substances involved is discussed.
