Automatic sequencing has recently revealed an error in the reported sequences of rat and cat BEHAB. The rat cDNA has a “G” between reported positions 1339 and 1340. The cat cDNA has a “C” between reported positions 1371 and 1372. In both cDNAs, the additional nucleotide results in a frame shift, eliminating the predicted stop codon at position 1363 (rat) or 1404 (cat). The corrected sequence of rat BEHAB is identical to that reported for rat brevican (Yamada et al. 1995. Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun. 216:957–963; Seidenbecher et al. 1995. J. Biol. Chem. 270:27206–27212).
