Scientific Managing Editor
The Journal of General Physiology (JGP) and Journal of Experimental Medicine (JEM) seek a talented individual for the role of Scientific Managing Editor.
The Scientific Managing Editor will commission and oversee the peer review of “Review” content for JGP and JEM. This individual will also partner with JGP Editor-in-Chief David Eisner and the JGP Associate Editors in the recruitment of manuscripts, development of editorial policies, and strategic development of the journal. The Scientific Managing Editor will work closely with JGP’s Managing Editor and JGP’s Production Editor in ensuring the journal is produced on time with the highest level of quality. This individual will report to the RUP Director of Editorial Development.
PhD is required. Educational emphasis in the subject areas covered by JGP and JEM is preferred. Editorial experience, especially in commissioning and editing review content is highly sought. The position requires regular travel to attend relevant scientific meetings and to visit research institutions. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills, superb attention to detail, and analytical skills as well as a strong interest in scientific publishing and publication ethics.
