Journal of  Experimental Medicine

The Journal of Experimental Medicine (JEM) seeks a talented individual to join our editorial team as a Scientific Editor or Senior Editor, dependent on experience. 

JEM is a multidisciplinary journal, published by not-for-profit academic publisher Rockefeller University Press (RUP), and dedicated to publishing high quality research in experimental medicine and disease pathogenesis.

JEM Scientific Editors: 

  • Report to the Executive Editor and oversee peer review of submitted original manuscripts.
  • Assess submitted research papers for scope, originality, rigor, context, and implications, and provide editorial recommendations.
  • Collaborate with JEM Academic Editors throughout the peer-review process, from initial evaluation to acceptance of publication.
  • Represent JEM at national and international scientific conferences.
  • Recruit high quality content for publication in JEM.
  • Commission reviews and other front matter content for JEM.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with researchers in their respective fields.
  • Work closely with colleagues across RUP on press-wide initiatives.
  • Promote journal policies.
  • Effectively manage project(s) that contribute toward JEM’s strategic direction and vision.


We are looking for:

  • Ph.D. in Immunology.
  • A deep understanding of the field, and eagerness to stay current with new trends and developments.
  • Passion for science and strong interest in scientific publishing and publication ethics.
  • Critical thinking skills and superb attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, networking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel to conferences and visit research institutions.
  • Ability to work successfully both independently and in a diverse team.
  • Candidates with 2+ years of editorial experience will be considered for a senior editor position.
